Quran Orders Us To Help Myanmar's Rohingya 'Boat People' at Sea

Dear Governments of Indonesia and Malaysia,

I sincerely hope that you will help Myanmar's Rohingya boat people at sea. If you refuse to do so, then fear the punishment of a Great Day or a calamity that may come upon you. Let us not forget when Indonesia was in dire need of help, when the vicious tsunami struck your country back in 2004, coincidently right around Christmas time. Your Lord will reward you for helping these people stranded at sea. That land belongs to Allah, and not to you, even though it was taken from the Aborigines. Our Creator commands us to help the needy and the wayfarers, meaning those who are travelling:

Give to the near of kin his due, and also to the needy and the wayfarers. Do not squander your wealth wastefully; for those who squander wastefully are Satan's brothers, and Satan is ever ungrateful to his Lord. (Quran, 17:26 - 27)

Those needy ones who are wholly wrapped up in the cause of Allah, and who are hindered from moving about the earth in search of their livelihood especially deserve help. He who is unaware of their circumstances supposes them to be wealthy because of their dignified bearing, but you will know them by their countenance, although they do not go about begging of people with importunity. And whatever wealth you will spend on helping them, Allah will know of it. (Quran, 2:273)

It is not righteousness that you turn your faces towards the East and the West, but righteousness is this: that one should believe in Allah and the Last Day, and the Angels, and the Book, and the Prophets, and give away wealth out of love for Him to the near of kin and the orphans and the needy and the wayfarer and the beggars and for (the emancipation of) the captives, and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate; and the performers of their promise when they make a promise, and those who are patient in suffering and hardship-- these are they who are true (to themselves) and these are they who guard (against evil). (Quran 2:177)

These people who are trapped at sea are wayfarers and are in dire need of your help. They are in search of livelihood, needing food and water. They have been patient in suffering and hardship. Please help them. The individuals who scarred the back of those unarmed men at sea by whipping them, will have their share of punishment from whips made of fire.

"What caused you to enter Hell-fire?" They will respond: "We were not among those who prayed, nor did we feed the needy... (Quran 74:42-48)

O Believers! Do not nullify your acts of charity by stressing your benevolence and causing hurt as does he who spends his wealth only to be seen by men and does not believe in Allah and the Last Day. The example of his spending is that of a rock with a thin coating of earth upon it: when a heavy rain smites it, the earth is washed away, leaving the rock bare; such people derive no gain from their acts of charity. Allah does not set the deniers of the Truth on the right way. (Quran, 2:262 - 264)

Believe in Allah and His messenger, and spend (in charity) out of the (substance) whereof He has made you heirs. For, those of you who believe and spend (in charity),- for them is a great Reward. (Quran, 57:7)

I commend the governments for any change of heart and having some mercy after rejecting these people:

Malaysia Orders Navy, Coast Guard To Rescue Rohingyas At Sea

Malaysia's prime minister has ordered the navy and coast guard to search for stranded Rohingya migrants in the Andaman Sea, a day after Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta agreed to take boatloads of desperate refugees who have been in limbo for weeks since fleeing persecution in Myanmar.

On Twitter, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said he had ordered the navy and coast guard "to conduct search and rescue efforts (for) Rohingya boats. We have to prevent loss of life," according to an Associated Press translation of the tweet written in Bahasa.

The thousands of mostly Muslim refugees – many of whom have been adrift for weeks – have been denied access to land in Buddhist majority Thailand, but were also initially rejected by predominately Islamic Malaysia and Indonesia.
